Camp MetalHead
Creative Arts Center of Dallas
Camp MetalHead is offered in the summer to underserved and/or under resourced teens ages 13 to 17 interested in Metal Arts! This free camp provides both relevant job skills training and quality fine arts instruction in welding and jewelry fabrication. During the six-week program, students learn to use tools, such as oxyacetylene torches, arc welders, pneumatic hammers, jewelry torches, grinders, polishers and sandblasters.
This program cultivates a creative “outside of the box” thought process. It provides exposure to an art form, with possibility of a profession that may not be available in most programs. Through the program, students build critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative skills. Educators facilitate this by supporting student-centered/self-guided inspiration, experimentation, and problem solving.
On the last day, students will have the opportunity to win a scholarship (1 awarded per program) to continue education in Welding or Jewelry Fabrication within our general class offerings.
Lunch, snacks, and water provided everyday of camp.
